Biography

Dr Aleksandra Marković completed all levels of study in Sociology at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade. She defended her PhD dissertation entitled Ideological and Political Orientation of the Precariat in Serbia in 2022. She gained her research and academic experience at the Institute for Sociological Research, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, as well as at the Institute of Criminological and Sociological Research in Belgrade. In 2023, she conducted postdoctoral research within the international project The Formation of Worker Collectivism Among Migrant Workers in Denmark, Germany, and the UK at Aalborg University, Denmark. As a visiting researcher at the University of Manchester (United Kingdom), she collected empirical data relevant to the project’s objectives. Her research interests include labour migration, insecure and precarious forms of work, collective action and workers’ resistance, as well as methodological issues in the study of social movements. In her work, she applies mixed-methods approaches, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods. She is the recipient of two research mobility scholarships: Erasmus+ (Estonia, Institute of Social Studies, University of Tartu) and CEEPUS (Slovenia, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana). She has participated in more than 20 national and international projects and several COST Actions, collaborates with international research teams, and regularly presents her work at academic conferences.
