The book analyzes socio-economic strategies of households and individuals in Serbia, providing an insight into the features of economic action of social actors in the conditions of structural-systemic change. The approach was developed and applied in a quantitative survey research of transformation strategies of social groups, conducted by the Institute of Sociological Research in 2003, intending to better understand and explain the ways in which individuals and households survive, mitigate the decline of their social status in the conditions of long-term crisis and troubled postsocialist transformation of society. The main finding is that a majority of Serbian households at the beginning of 21st century is characterized by insufficiently crystallized social positions, in terms of both social status and socio-economic action. The latter means that a given household can build its own status by getting involved in essentially different sectors within the system of social reproduction simultaneously.
