The book examines active violent acts and behaviors in the family, primarily those committed against women. Quantitative data are used to explore the incidence of violence in the general population of Serbia, as well as variations in frequencies of different types of violent behaviors in the family depending on the class status and socio-demographic properties of the respondents. Probing the various forms and salience of violent behavior, the author elaborates the connection between violence against women and the systematic reproduction of patriarchy at all levels.
