Biography
Ana Birešev is Associate Professor of Sociology at Faculty of Philosophy – University of Belgrade, where she obtained her bachelor and doctoral degrees in Sociology (2013). She teaches at the following courses: Society in the 19th-20th Centuries – Structure, Social Change, and Everyday Life (at bachelor level), Culture of Late Capitalism (at master level), Culture of Late Capitalism and Forms of Resistance (at PhD level). Ana is the member of the editorial board of the journal Sociologija (Serbia). She is a member of the Sociological Scientific Society of Serbia. Participation in major projects: European Social Survey – ESS (2018/19, 2020–2022, 2023/24, 2025/26), Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Republic of Serbia, Grant no. 451-03- 68/2020-14/200163 (University of Belgrade, Faculty of Philosophy), Figuring Out the Enemy: Re-Imagining Serbian-Albanian Relations (Regional Research Promotion Programme – RRPP, and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation) (2014–2016), Social and Cultural Capital in Serbia (Regional Research Promotion Programme in the Western Balkans – RRPP) (2011), subproject Ethics and Environmental Politics: Institutions, Techniques and Norms in the Challenge of Changing the Natural Environment, as part of the larger project Studying Climate Change and its Influence on Environment: Impacts, Adaptation and Mitigation (Ministry of Science of the Republic of Serbia; Priority Area 3: Environmental Protection and Climate Change, Scientific Project Cycle 2011–2019), etc.
