The book discusses the relation of poststructuralism to contemporary anthropology. The first section gives an overview of the relation between theory and history from a postmodern perspective, while in the second section the author focuses on the writings of Derrida, Foucault, Baudrillard, and Donna Harraway. Special emphasis is placed on the transformation of the knowledge model and on how in the given context the status and concept of the human are defined. The concluding section is devoted to the influence of these views and their implications for anthropology today.
