This study of single-parent families in Serbia is a pioneering endeavor in researching this form of family in our country and the region. Different aspects of this type of family – the dynamics of their emergence, everyday life, relations within the family, functionality and value orientations, are analyzed on the basis of data collected through a survey questionnaire administered to a representative sample. This is a highly informative and analytic study that brings forth a wealth of evidence about a phenomenon significantly underrepresented in both academic writing and broader public debates in Serbia.
