The book centers on the problem of how to define theoretically the structure of the Yugoslav society, and on interpreting basic sociological categories (social structure, strata, classes, bureaucracy, exploitation, etc). In spite of the divergences among Yugoslav sociologists concerning the structure of the social system in the country at the time, the author contends that social inequality in SFRY is generated by the social structure, and that conflicts stemming therefrom have a class character.
