The study is based on evidence collected in a quantitative study targeting young people as actors of social integration. The authors map the specific features of the transition to adulthood among the young in Serbia, focusing on education, forms of employment and various aspects of family transitions, such as moving out of parental home, establishing partnership relations, marriage and parenthood. The analysis shows that social biographies of young people in Serbia are shaped within a very unfavorable structural context, with minimum systemic support provided by the state’s institutional mechanisms and a strong support from informal networks, and that they display the properties of the south European cultural model.
