Biography
Born in Belgrade, graduated Sociology at the Faculty of Philosophy, Belgrade. Magister (1995) and PhD degrees (2003) also from the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Philosophy. Since 2001 she has been teaching at the same Department, at both undergraduate and graduate levels, the following courses: Social Demography, Demography of Childbearing and Partnership, Contemporary Migration (undergraduate), Migration and Sustainable Development (master) and Contemporary Population Challenges (PhD). As a lecturer actively involved in the interdisciplinary master program Studies of Migration at the University of Belgrade. As a researcher, she has actively participated in a vast array of projects, such as: „Settlements and Population of the Branković Region in 1455” (Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts) 1989–2001; various fieldwork research studies of the Institute for Social Sciences, 1998–2001; and, continuously since 2001, in all the studies conducted by the Institute for Sociological Research, whose Director she was between 2015 and 2018. She has pursued postdoc trainings in Bioethics in Italy and the Netherlands (Universita Degli Studi di Udine, Facolta di Medicina e Chirurgia, Italy, 2008-2009, and Redboud University, Nijmegen, Netherlands, 2009). In 2006 she spent a summer semester in the USA, at the University of Southern Maine, Muskie School of Public Service, through the JFDP program. Membership in the Serbian Demographic Society, Serbian Sociological Society and European Population Society. Membership in the editorial boards of scientific journals: Demografija (Faculty of Geography) and Stanovništvo (Institute of Social Sciences). She has taken part in numerous national and international scientific conferences. Since 2007, she has been actively involved as an evaluator, Rapporteur, Vice Chair and Chair in evaluations of scientific proposals under various calls of the European Commission, Brussels, Belgium.
