In the book City, Architecture, Society one examines the complex
relationship between city, society, architecture and urbanism. Analyzing
the city as a print of society in space one highlights the most important
tendencies in shaping the urban space and directing its development.
Specifically are discussed what urban changes occur in industrial and
post-industrial society, as well as modifications of the role and practice
of urbanism and architecture. The analysis is based on comparison of
different solutions in urbanism and architecture, and on significant ideas
and practices of urban policy in the industrial and post-industrial city.
The key processes that transformed the space are: industrialization –
urbanization and deindustrialization (global economy) – gentrification.
