The contributions to this collective volume focus on structural and action-related prerequisites of a cooperative, participatory model of managing the environment in Serbia. The material combines conceptual analysis, including the transformation of the management model and its curcial dimensions, and contextual analysis at national and local levels, with special emphasis on the towns of Bor and Pančevo, as two environmentally sore spots in Serbia. The book describe environmental conditions in these places and analyzes the evidence collected in the research project „Public participation in environmental decision making: The case of Bor and Pačevo“. Key obstacles to implementing a participatory model of environmental management in these two towns are identified, together with possible ways to overcome them.
