Gentrification occupies a special place among the crucial patterns of transformation of contemporary cities. In addition to being expressed as conspicuous effects in changing spatial forms, gentrification processes also comprise deeper aspects of urban transformation propelled by economic restructuring, new patterns in urban management and city planning, as well as changes in social structure and lifestyle shifts. This book offers within Serbian sociology a unique, pioneering and systematic account of theoretical approaches to gentrification, with particular emphasis on explanations that take into account the effect of social position and intersections with individual choices prompted by specific lifestyle commitments.
